John McCain’s Curiously Absent Speech

John McCain sought and won the endorsement of Pastor John Hagee, a man who says that Catholicism influenced Hitler and the Jewish Holocaust, and that Hurricane Katrina was God’s wrath against a city that held gay pride parades. After John McCain became aware of Pastor Hagee’s inflammatory remarks, McCain maintained, “I am very proud of pastor John Hagee’s spiritual leadership to thousands of people.”

When Obama’s pastor was accused of inflammatory rhetoric, Obama responded with a 40 minute speech on race relations in America, heralded by some as the most important speech on the issue in more than 40 years.

We’re still waiting for McCain’s speech on inter-faith relations and homophobia.
